Honestly? I think the best donation you can give is to your friend’s brother. Insurance only covers so much – he will have a lot of financial responsibility to receive chemo and go through surgery. Otherwise, if you are looking to donate to a charity, anything that has to do with children since they are our future would be the most logical and have the largest impact (ie – children with luekemia).

If they cure breast cancer, will they make the cure free or discounted because of all the donation?

Question by Zorro: If they cure breast cancer, will they make the cure free or discounted because of all the donation?
money that was given to discover the cure OR do you believe as I do that such a cure would be worth billions and they would expect to get their billions and in reality by donating money to find a cure for breast cancer you are just lining the pockets of corporate greed.
Do you think there should be a law governing the marketing of cures for diseases that are found with money that has been donated?
Nikki that is exactly my point!!!!

If we paid for the development of the cure, why then are we paying to use the cure?

No. It would be nice. But the donations go to research and development, they’ll still have to be paid to keep up with supply, and there would probably be some lining of pockets.

It would be no different than the money donated to AIDS research, and people still paying for their treatment.

EDIT: Yes. I think there should be a law, or a budget, something that would allow the treatments for free. There is a new “drip” that they’ve been using locally in “experimental” phase for Autism. The kids who’ve undergone it have shown huge improvement, but we would have to save for years to even get on the list. Cancer, AIDS, it’s ridiculous that people can’t afford to have a better life, or in some cases LIVE.

EDIT: Like I said SOME money would have to go for supply, just to keep up with production, but they could absolutely discount it, a big discount, if it weren’t for “lining the pockets”
